Means

“You can achieve anything, you just need to try hard enough!” This is the myth of the entrepreneur, which usually ignores the context in which their achievement sits. We are expected to believe this and though it’s theoretically possible, practically it’s not.

Successful entrepreneurs rely heavily on their “means”. In Effectual Reasoning it’s known as the “bird in hand” principle. You leverage what you have as much as you possibly can. There are three key means that you have: Who you are (your own traits and resources), what you know (education, experience) and who you know (social and professional network).

To misquote: “Means maketh the man”.
